Hannah and Louie's Spring Wedding Flowers
at The Mill Barns, Shropshire
Hannah and Louie’s spring wedding at The Mill Barns, Shropshire, was one of those weddings that took your breath away, where every detail, from the flowers downwards, set the scene for their big day. As their appointed florist, I worked closely with the couple to devise designs that complemented the natural beauty and individual architecture of the venue, while embracing the fresh, vibrant feel of a spring wedding.
The Venue
The Mill Barns
The Mill Barns is a purpose-built wedding venue set amidst rolling Shropshire countryside, framed with tranquil water features and lush foliage. The beamed ceiling gave this airy interior the perfect neutral backdrop that allowed the colours and textures of flowers to come into their own. This venue most surely called for natural elegance, subtly touched, which we have seen achieved here through the well-chosen blooms and styling.
Spring Wedding Ceremony Florals
The Bridal Bouquet
The bouquet was one of dreamy fresh roses, eucalyptus, astilbe, and seasonal florals. Delicate texture with cascading greenery added effortless sophistication to the bride, with the classic silhouette of the gowns in perfect complement.
Bridesmaids Flowers
Each bridesmaid had a bouquet to complement the bridal arrangement with soft mauves and blush tones reflected in their flowy dresses. These balanced the classic and the modern to create this enchanting, cohesive aesthetic of the bridal party.
Boutonnieres Groom & Groomsmen
The groomsmen’s boutonnières were sleek, with a combination of blush roses and greenery for one sleek yet subtle look. It is the little things that have come together to tie it all in perfectly for the whole wedding party’s florals.
An absolutely stunning geometric hexagonal arch adorned the end of the aisle at the ceremony space. Soft white chiffon draped from it, adorned with asymmetrical floral arrangements, including soft pastel-toned flowers such as roses, lisianthus, and sprays of baby’s breath on either side. Greenery was included in the arrangement for depth and framing around the beautiful view seen from the barn’s floor-to-ceiling windows.
Each chair down the aisle was adorned with dainty posies tied with flowing chiffon fabric. The soft blush roses, astilbe, and eucalyptus within the posies were done to seamlessly tie in with the arch. This cohesive look flowed through the entire ceremony for a romantic and inviting ambiance.
The Staircase Décor
One of the standout features of the venue had to be the sweeping staircase, which became a cascading floral installation. Fresh seasonal flowers were placed in vases down the stairs, interwoven with soft greenery for a real flowing, organic feel. The design element added that whimsical storybook feel as guests entered into the venue, setting the tone for the day.
Reception Styling
For the reception, floral centrepieces graced each round table. These arrangements combined roses, astilbe, and other seasonal blooms, set on rustic wooden slices to blend with the barn’s natural charm.
Cake Florals
The three-tiered wedding cake was done very simply yet elegant with added fresh flowers for a personal touch. Blush roses, sprays of baby’s breath, and hints of greenery on the tiers accentuated the classic design of the cake. These floral additions composed a fine harmony between the cake and the rest of the wedding’s decor, making it one of the talking points in the reception.
Highlights and Unique Features
Some of the memorable features of the wedding florals were:
Geometric Arch: Modern, and at the same time, romantic in design, this feature framed perfectly during the ceremony.
Staircase Florals: In addition, cascading down the stairs, these pieces created movement and drama in the space and a beautiful first impression.
The cohesive décor: everything from the aisle posies to the table centrepieces was thoughtfully tied in, making sure a seamless day flowed.
A Spring Wedding Day to Remember
Hannah and Louie’s wedding flowers created a delicate, elegant atmosphere that perfectly married the venue and the season. The use of fresh, spring blooms with soft fabrics and rustic accents brought together a timeless yet relaxed feel.
